Default New DIY Video 5 Volt Mod w/ LED's

I first saw Maddogs Magnum 6 Volt video a few months ago and I was off and running. Special thanks to him!

This is my Christmas gift back to the vaping community. It show you how to make your own 5 volt mod with LED's. My new video is more detailed than the last one.

    Enjoy Happy Holidays

thank you very much.............that was proably the BEST video how to that i've seen so far........i'm ordering from mad vapor and the parts will be in soon...
The voltage regulator that you are using,is that the same as the one i can get from mad vapor or no??
Why do you not have to use resistors with your led???But thank you for the great info.............

The LED's I get all say 5 VF so they carry 5 volts forward. I don't run the current throught the LED- it just comes off the main current and into the LED. They have a built in intergral resistor.

    The LED's are from Fry's

Although most of the basics are sound enough he tends to make things much too difficult. Go with a thinner gauge stranded wire. Two inch wire runs don't need to be that thick, especially for the LED, and the solid wire puts too much stress on the whole thing, hence the need for pounds of epoxy. As far as mounting the 510 batt connector 2 sided PCB board is a nice easy to work with choice. Work carefully drilling your initial hole for a nice tight press fit, a vice, some wood and a 5/8 or so socket work well for pressing. Once in you can solder the connector to the inside of the PCB, this is also where you will solder your ground wire, not through a hole outside of the assembly. You can lay in a nice layer of epoxy here to reinforce things. Also take some time and make a nice perfect outside circle, you can spin it in a drill and fine tune it with sandpaper. You want a nice tight press fit (with a little epoxy around the perimeter while doing it) into the FL body. I also like liquid tape to insulate my connections.

And one of these makes life so much easier.

You can use thinner wire if you want to but, I'm like the wire I use- the epoxy is a safety measure. I don't want press fit washers- I like the JB weld nipple- cone. Mine are working great 4 months later.

This is still Maddog Magnum- Shriek made it 5 volt and 6, I made 5/6 multi volts ones, then decided 5 volt is best. So I went to 5 volts with LED's.

I want to go back and make a 5/6 Multi volt with LED's - They told me it couldn't be done- They're wrong

    Thanks James,

For anyone who watched these DIY Videos- there is now an Update to my Detonator. I now make them to use protected Cr123a's. This video should explain why/ How etc. Also they now look a little prieter than the first new version did.
