WHAT am I doing wrong?!?

As a relatively new vaper I have a bazillion questions, but the most pressing is this: I started direct dripping on my 510 recently and I seem to be melting the carts! I'm afraid to do it now as I, in an effort to not melt the cart, end up dripping more e-liq in after every 3-4 puffs - and wind up flooding it - with all the delights that come with that: leakage from the battery end, from the cart end, and into my mouth. So, I'm either vaping melted plastic or drinking e-liq! I really don't want to have to count puffs and be afraid that my e-cig is doing more damage to my body than analogs would! What the heck am I doing wrong? Please help!

Melting them? Are you using some sort of passthru? Are you melting the actual outside plastic casing, or just the filling?

I'm actually melting the plastic casing. I've taken out the filling to drip (as I saw others had done on youtube). No, I'm not using a passthru. When I opened the cart from the atomizer to add more drops I noticed little melted notches in the edges of the cart and an awful smell/taste. It's happened more than twice, so after flooding them to avoid melting, I'm afraid to even use the 510! I'm glad to have a KR808D to use til I learn why I'm messing up so badly!

You need to align the cart. If you look down under the atomizer bridge there is a white oval-ish shape. If you look at the atomizer end of your carts, either flat or round, you will notice that it is the same shape. Try to align the two as closely as possible when putting the cart and atty together and see if that helps. You can take a pen or something and make a line on both atty and cart so you can line up the "lines" so you don't have to look in the atty.

When I drip I use a cart that I trimmed about 1mm off to prevent the dreaded melting, I think without the filler in the cart it can't take as much heat. I line up the carts when I use the with fillers. just my 2 cents

You should definitely trim a bunch off the end of the cart, you only really need that small couple of millimeters for it to stick onto the atty. If you wanna get crazy-ish I suggest using a pokie to pull out the circular mouth-piece disk (if your using the round carts & not flat-tipped). After you remove the first one do the same with the second beneath it. Then take a drill bitt that seems about the right size & shred out the 'guts' of the inside of the cart. Juice tends to collect between the two discs because of the increased force of air-flow caused by with the narrow air holes from the juice-holder beneath & essentially leads to juice in the mouth. Then, if you want, put only the uppermost circular disk back in, or leave it out & drip through it. Some use the grippie rubber from some pens & put that on the atty to give space, drip through, & use as a new mouth-piece. I got the brass 'T-tips' from supertmanufacturing.com & you definitely wont melt those, but it's difficult to actually drip through so I still ends up pulling it off to drip every 2 seconds... I might have to try the pen thing now that I think about it.

You really need to show us what you are doing, because this is very strange. Come into the chat room this weekend, and show us if you have a cam. if no cam then just talk to us, we will be able to help you out.
