    Default Atomizers

I have had nothing but bad luck so far with the 510 atty's. I burnt the threads to the coil on 3 of the new atty's 1.5 days after the 510 arrived. I ordered a 5 pack from Jason, and these have the most god awful taste. The ones that came with the kit and the extra one that I ordered with my 510 kit apparently didn't require a break in. They tasted great from the first toke. These genuine joye 510 atty's have been working great as far as vapor, but I don't know how much longer I will be able to vape this taste. I am going to give it another day or so and I may have to go back to analogs. I've spent a good deal of money on e-cig stuff, and it's been nothing but a headache. I just want to taste my e-liquid and not this terrible taste. I don't think this is good for your health either because it gives a crazy throat burn when I inhale, and I'm quite sure it's not the liquid I'm vaping.

I've learned my lesson with holding my button 20-30 seconds to try to get massive hits because this gives the attys a unbearable burned taste.

I do not know anyone personally that vapes to ask my questions to. I read the forums about atty break in etc... I cannot see people inhaling this taste for a week just to break in their atty and then have it go out a week after (as I've heard the avg. life span is about 2 weeks). After one week of fantastic vaping you're supposed to endure another week of the god awful break in taste?? This jst seems silly. I'm at wits end with this 510. I bought some cheap a$$ e-cigs from deal extreme, and these things taste wonderful they just don't vape as well as the 510. I bought the 510 because of it's popularity and I am currently not seeing why it's the e-cig of choice.

someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong. Tell me how to break in atty's faster or some trick that i've missed. grrrrrrrr so frustrating.

    Hey Uzi,
I use 510 atties all the time, lately using low res 510's on my mods. Usually the bad taste is from a primer liquid in them. You should blow them out from the battery end prior to use. Then prime with some of your own juice, the bad taste usually goes away after just a couple of vapes.
I usually run the 510 really wet( I drip not carts)( they tend to gurgle) fine line before flooding. If that happens just shake out or blow out the atty.
I also use 901 atties also these seem to give alot cooler vape and more flavor. You would need an adapter to go from a 510-901 for a few bucks. Hope this helps some

My suggestion would be to start with some plain PG or unflavored PG liquid for the initial vapes. The thinner PG is much better at clearing the primer. I blow out the primer, add some plain PG then blow out again. I then fire it up. As capevette said the bad taste should clear very quickly. I then would go to my normal liquid.

As far as 510's being the starter of choice, that's generally true for the small, crappy, cigarette sized PV's. Currently, I'd never suggest a 510 kit to someone now that the eGo/Tornado came out. That is a much, much better device. Also, if you're trying to take 20-30 second drags off a 510 for bigger hits, you need to buy a mod. 510 Kits will occasionally work for people who smoke like, Virginia Slims, or take little baby puffs off cigarettes. If you are craving huge vapor/throat hit/feeling, you NEED to get an eGo with Low Resistance Atomizers or a 5v or 6v Mod.

When I started vaping I was like you, I smoked 2 packs of Camel Filters, and occasionally non-filters a day. I started with the weenie little 510 type devices and while they kind of worked, they never calmed my craving. Once I got a 6v mod, I never had 1 cigarette since, and it's been almost 3 months now. Haven't even wanted to light up again, not even a fleeting thought. So I would really suggest looking into a 5v or 6v mod as your rock solid "Go to" device that will always 100% kill your craving every time... then branch out into smaller devices to take out with you to fill that void later.

But back to your actual question, it sounds like you fried your atomizers right off the bat. All I've ever done with my attys is take them out of the package, flip them around, blow them out into a paper towel, drop 6 drops in them (I break in on 6 volts, so it needs about that much) and let it sit for a couple seconds. Then I'll just proceed to chain vape it and in about 5-10 hits it's "marinated", primed, and working great. If you put too little liquid in, or let it get too dry and get a burn taste once, sometimes atomizers simply keep that taste the entire time you have them. You can try cleaning them, or soaking them in some Grain Alcohol or Vodka overnight and blow them out to see if that works. You may have also just simply gotten a bad batch of 510's, this shit is from China afterall and sometimes the QC isn't that great.

If you can, don't give up on vaping. The community that these things have now is enormous, and there's usually dozens if not hundreds of people at your beck and call that really WANT to try and help you get off analogs. Sometimes it takes a bit of money to get started, but frankly even after spending close to $500 on all my supplies, I've probably broken even money wise by not buying two $10 packs of smokes a day, and I can already run without coughing up black and bloody phlegm and I don't get winded doing absolutely nothing anymore. Even if I'd spent $1500 in this time, it would be worth it for my health right now.

I appreciate your response. I want to continue to vape. When you're actually tasting the liquid it's awesome. I didn't realize i needed to blow out the primer. I'll definitely try that with the next atty. I have been so careful with the new atty's I just received. I've made sure that I do not take more than 5 or 6 second draws. I'm still geting a bad taste but nothing near what I was getting with the atty's that had threads melted to the coil. I am dripping so constantly I can't understand how it would be getting dry. I'll try to soak the atty's and I hope this works because 3 of the 5 new ones I received just a day ago already taste bad.

is there a specific kit that i should buy that is not as easy to burn up. I really want to vape. I love it so much when it works right. I'm just having terrible luck I guess. I had such high expectations for the 510, and I feel as if i've been tricked though I know it's my own fault.

Maybe it's the liquid? It just dawned on me after getting a significant amount of this liquid in my mouth... It burns like hell. All my e-liquid is 26mg. Does 26mg give a throat hit that almost burns or is it my atty? I can barely taste the difference in my liquids. Butterscotch, Coffee, Capuccino, B&H Tobacco. They all taste very similar in the way they have a slightly burned taste. All of them hurt my throat very bad to inhale. I just broke out the 4th of the 5 new atty's. I blew it out very well, and added 6 drops of e liquid. I intentionally flooded it, and then vaped using small hits. There is no way I couldhave burnt this one yet. It already tastes terrible. I'm just beginning to think that 26mg liquid tastes terrible. Can anyone confirm that since it's all I have to test with...

I use the same attys as you do, (that is if you ordered the genuine joye 5 pack from Jason) and have had no problems with burnt taste from any of them. I blow out the factory oil, drop some liquid, vape and repeat till no oil taste. I use different attys for different flavors unless the flavors are similar. Right now I am using 26mg mint and nuewport from electronicstix.com and love it.

Remember I told you about the bad taste I got from using the teabags in your other post ? Try using either the spring with the filler or the zero filler cart mod, both work good but the zero filler is better and last longer. It took me 3 tries of cutting out the silicone caps to get it right, but now its been working perfectly for the last 5 fills. No leaks, lasts the longest because it holds the most liquid using this trick without flooding, also you get to use almost every singe last drop. You can find both these tricks under the cart mods section.

It is hard to troubleshoot a burnt taste unless you taste it for yourself, it could be old liquid that collects in the atty and doesn't burn. You know, that dark colored fluid that comes out when you blow out an atty after a while of vaping. That stuff tastes nasty, like cooking in the same oil over and over, you get the idea. If I were you, I would try and clean out all the bad tasting attys with something that leaves behind no after taste. There is a lot of cleaning atty articles in here, you just have to take the time and read. I have read almost every single tip and trick here and on other forums and gained a lot of knowledge and ideas I would of other wise overlooked.

Hope you experience a decent tasting vape soon, would hate to see someone get discouraged especially when you have decent equipment to get it done.

try going to your local pharmacist and pick up a bottle of glycerin (USP grade). take a small amount of the juice you have, and the glycerin and make a 50/50 mixture, Make a small amount first like 2ml or so, or you could just take 5 drops of each to give you a 10 drop sampler.

Try that, it will drop your nic level down to 13mg, but right now, lets face it.... if you hate the taste, who cares what the mg level is.

When I was first starting, I made the mistake of buying everything in bulk without testing other alternatives and unfortunately, not every liquid is for everyone. I wound up with an absolutely HORRIBLE burnt taste from all of my attys, seemed like i was vaping plastic all day long. but at that point i had removed anything i had made of plastic away from the atomizer. (basically just dripping with not mouthpiece.)

Turns out that the VG I was using wasn't the greatest and as soon as I got some different liquid and VG I was in heaven.

Maybe try a different juice aswell....

At this point I'm about 3 burnt vapes away from breaking out one of my tobacco pipes and trying to sell my kit atty's and 75ml's of various juices. I can't take this taste any longer. I wish I knew there was a way to fix my problem, but I see no light at the end of the tunnel. I've read almost everythign on this forum and other sites including all the videos I could find on youtube about vaping. I have followed the rules people have said work best. I know for a fact that I'm not running to dry, nor am I taking to long of hits, as I have made it a point not to hold the button down for more than 4 - 5 seconds with this last fresh atty. It too has a burnt taste. I know the taste of the oil/primer that comes in the atty and it's not that. I wanted to buy the mako or the silver bullet and other supplies so that I would have an arsenal to vape out of. I also wanted to start mixing juices but at this point I would rather dip a cigarette in a mud puddle and light it up than vape off this 510 one more time. I am dripping with no cart, I have tried pulling out the "threads/wick" as well as leaving them in. No matter what I do every vape tastes like trash. I love this community. It has a lot of great people that try to be helpful, but I don't see this as a user error anymore. I'm getting responses that are telling e to do things I've already done etc... I can't see batteries causing this issue (how could they), and I've went through 8 atomizes with the same issue while treating each atty differently until finally flooding it constantly and taking such little hits that I was not being satisfied simply to avoid the burnt taste. I'M STILL GETTING THE BURNT TASTE!!! I don't know what to do besides quit. It wouldn't be a big deal but I've spent (looks at Jason's invoices) 101.41, 32.97, 47.99, which is $182.37 in 6 days. I'm sooooo disappointed and angry that I could literally put my head through my monitor. PLEASE anybody give me a solution - This is unfortunately my last attempt at vaping. I know you guys are not smoking this terrible taste from day to day, it would make all of you crazy people.

If there is nothing that can be done to help, I'll take offers on:

    5 genuine Joye atty's
    1 510 5v passthrough
    2 510 batteries
    11 cartridges
    1 510 charger
    2 15ml coffee juice
    1 15ml cappuccino
    1 15ml B&H tobacco
    1 15ml Butterscotch

    * there is probably 6 ml taken total out of these bottles. I've used a few drops of each flavor. So you would be getting approx. 69ml of e-juice.
