    Default The 5 volt passthru

I just ordered it a few hours ago as I don't have a passthru currently. The idea of not using my batteries while at home was too pleasing to ignore. I have a couple of questions for those who use it.

Does it harm your computer at all? I know it uses a bit more power than the 3.7 volt one does. I plan on using it witha usb hub anyway but I want to know if I have to option of using it on my pc.

How good is it? Anyone have issues with it? it will be my first 5 volt experience.

    Thanks
    -George

I have one from electronicstix but I am not sure if it is truly 5 volts. I measured voltage and it was roughly 4.54 volts but it does kick ass and I use mine directly into my usb port. I know I shouldn't, and I will get that ac adapter that everyone uses from radio shack. Been using it for over a week and it works way better than the one with the inline battery.

    Hope this helps a little.

Do not use it with your comp!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you do nothing bad might happen or you might fry a few things..... Its just not worth risking your comp IMHO
I think MADVAPES (awesome place by the way ) used to cell ac to usb adapters for like $10 or sumthing like that.
You will def need something like that (or enercell power adapter from radioshack, you'll here ppl talkin bout those). The adapter madvapes adapter got is 5v and 2000mah VS. the usb which is usually standard at 500mah.
I am not saying you wouldnt like your PT powered by your usb But if you power it by the adapter you'll get more of a 5v deal kick

@KEITH, dude how many times I told you get an adapter get an adapter

Lmfao, cmon Mit bro. give me a break dude . I went to bed at 3 am last night because I lost track of time in chat, then I woke up 2 hours late for work and decided to go get that headphone set from best buy and to get that enercell thing. On the way back from best buy, I went shopping to look for a good holster for the Precious so I could have something to keep it clean in while i'm at work painting. I went to so many gun stores, sporting goods, walmart, target, homedepot and hardware stores till I finally found the right stuff. And by the way I did pick up 2 extras for you and Vapoorer.

After all that and not eating lunch(drank pepsi and ate chips while driving), I actually forgot all about going to radio shack for that enercell thing . By the time I got home from driving in all that hawaii traffic, it was after 6pm and I was starving and dead tired. I rushed to take a shower, eat dinner and then had to watch the season finale of 24 that I recorded on dvr. On top of that, I had to spill the beans and tell my girlfriend that I didn't go to work because she would have figured that out anyways because I came home in regular clothes with no paint in my hair. It went something like this
" hey hun, I didn't go to work today because I had to look for a case holder for my Precious and had to find a headset so I can chat on nu-vapor about ecig stuff"
Can you imagine the look I got ?

Yea that is the look I got !!

Lmfao so cmon bro, I beg you, gimme a break.

Its fine Mitrich. I have an ac adapter to usb around the house somewhere but I can't find it. I'll probably buy another one and then find the old one as soon as I get home. That is my kind of luck. I didn't plan on using the 5v PT on my comp but now I definitely won't. My brother worked long and hard at building that comp and I don't want it dead. Thanks for the advice though.

    HA ha no problem
Ya dont want to make your brother comeback and fix stuff (well without a good reason at least )
The new PTs are a bit better quality (took a few apart he he... ) but its always better be safe

P.S. Check the couch!!! I always find something in mine

Well if you are using Joye 510's and want a true 5V none of the AC USB adapters will do it. They all max out at 2000mA and in my tests deliver a bit less to the atty, probably due partially to the added resistance of the USB connectors and thread-like USB cable. Figure maybe 4.1V with a 2.2Ω atty. Do note that produces over 55% more watts (heat/power) than a Joye battery. For many that is enough of a boost.

If you are the least bit handy go with one of these.

    5VDC Power Supply 2.5A AC Adapter for D-Link LinkSys 5V - eBay (item 300427745238 end time Jun-13-10 12:26:18 PDT)

This is from a US supplier, you'll note it's for a D-Link router, you may actually have one.

You could even go to a full 3A if you like. It should run a little cooler.

    Genuine DELTA SWITCHING AC ADAPTOR ADP-15GH B 5V 3A - eBay (item 290372974728 end time Jun-20-10 05:34:30 PDT)

Either one of these will power any standard atty at a true 5V.

I say handy because you will have to mate it to your PT, with either the appropriate connector or splice and tape.
